Principal's Message

August 2017

Mrs. Kelly Grunditz

Welcome Back! It’s always exciting to begin another school year, especially at FJH. A lot is in store for students, parents, community members, and the FJH staff, as we are, “Todays Learners, Tomorrows Leaders,” which is our 2017-18 theme. Our goal this year is to create learning partnerships that involve parents and community members in new and innovative ways incorporating the district’s theme, #togetherSTPPS. Together we can accomplish anything.

Canes under Construction: We are very excited that the construction of our new wings is coming to an end. Our new facility is going to be beautiful, and we look forward to moving in very shortly. When this happens we will revert to another drop off and pick up point on campus, which we will inform you of in due time.

Parents have always played a major role in the success of all we do at FJH. This year, we are asking parents to become an equal partner in their child’s success at school. To do this, we are increasing our communication avenues to allow parents to look at their child’s progress on a daily basis, and also be able to quickly know what has been assigned or is coming due. Here’s what’s new this year:

  • FJH Student Planners – All students will be given a student planner on the first day of school. Teachers will be encouraging students to write assignments in their planner daily. It will be part of every parent’s responsibility to check their child’s planner frequently.
  • Teacher Web – Every teacher at FJH will maintain a web page that you can access through the FJH website. You can easily find out what each of your child’s teachers are planning, what’s for homework, what projects and assignments are due, and other useful information.
  • JPAMS – Early in the year, you will be mailed a pin number and instructions on accessing your child’s grades online. You will be able to check both current progress and attendance. This information will be kept as current as possible, and should provide you with an easy way to keep track of the issues all parents need to know.

Between the student planners, teacher web, and JPAMS, parents have a seamless way of finding out what is expected of their child and how they are progressing. In addition, teachers will be communicating with you via email and phone, as well as through district issued interim and report cards. We need all of our parents to make a commitment to partner with us to establish high expectations and accountability for students. This type of communication helps make our school-to-home relationship transparent. The more you know, and the sooner you know it, the quicker we can all head off academic problems. It is much easier to help our children as they progress, than to wait until there is a larger issue. By redefining our partnership with you, we all take on the responsibilities of keeping FJH the great school we’ve come to expect!

Again…welcome to Fontainebleau Jr. High. We look forward to helping your child succeed and invite you to contact us at any time. Together, we’ll make the 2017– 18 school year, the best ever!
